Horror Examples

Here are some quick write-ups of various Horrors you can use when running the game.

A quick thing to note is that ALL Horrors, regardless or archetypes or traits chosen, have these innate abilities.

  • Fueled by Death - The Horror heals when it kills. How much it heals depends on if it kills a player, one of their contacts, or a random NPC.
  • Resistance - Horrors only take one damage from attacks that are not their weakness, and a Horror cannot be killed except by it's weakness.
  • Terror Aura - While in the presence of a Horror people enter a Fight or Flight mindset and players must roll for every action their character does, no matter how mundane. These rolls are made against the lowest difficulty.
  • Disappearance - While not being actively observed, the Horror can spend a Willpower to disappear from a scene. Where the Horror appears again is determined by the GM.
  • Catastrophe - A Horror can spend 1 willpower to cause a piece of man-made technology to malfunction. Cars will refuse to start, guns will jam, video will scramble, and melee weapons may slip out of people's hands.
  • Jump Scare - The Horror can spend 1 willpower to cause a haunting effect known generally as a jump scare. I'll go into more details about these in a different update.

I'm also not including their stats as those are numerical, debatable among fans, and entirely up to the GM to spend.
